Fairview Library and Theatre Addition and Interior Addition

Location: Toronto, ON
Client: Toronto Public Library
Architect: makrimichalos cugini architects
Principal Architect-in-Charge of Design and Project Management: Tina Ranieri-D'Ovidio

Fairview District Library and Theatre is an existing four-story building constructed in 1976.  Fairview is Toronto Public Library’s district hub in the city’s north-east end and has been well-used by the public for 39 years. The project included the transformation of both the lower and second floor levels. A glazed addition accommodates more public library space, accessible entry points, and a new theatre lobby. The revitalization of interior space provides collaborative opportunities, maximizes connections, supports Kids’ activities, and allows for ample natural lighting.
